Field Marshal Erwin Rommel

 

After the death of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, his medals and crosses accompanied him during the memorial service. Since then, a collection of original medals and crosses, including the most important “Pour le Merit” Cross and the “Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds”, have been in the Rommel family until 2008.

The main crosses of Erwin Rommel were presented to the public in December 2008 at the Haus der Geschichte at the photo exhibition "The Rommel Myth" in Stuttgart. The photo exhibition was closed in September 2009, but his medals and crosses remained in the museum. As of 2023, they were still there, as was the original marshal's baton.
